Mock Trial

The University of Richmond has one of the nation’s strongest mock trial teams, making the university a popular choice for students who are serious about attending law school and ultimately practicing trial law. The team has more than 30 members and fields up to four teams at a time; the size and popularity of the program is remarkable considering the relatively small size of the University.

The team that consistently earns bids to national tournaments sponsored by the American Mock Trial Association. In 2007, two teams earned bids, marking the first time the University sent multiple teams to the national competition in a single year. At least one Richmond team has qualified for the national tournament each of the last six years. The team also holds the Spider Invitational each October.
